Dental Assistant, Licensed License in Nebraska

Nebraska provides comprehensive information for Licensed Dental Assistants. Two pathways to licensure: (1) Graduate from an accredited dental assisting program, OR (2) Earn 1,500 hours of dental assistant experience within the past 5 years. All applicants must pass the DANB CDA (Certified Dental Assistant) exam AND the Nebraska Dental Assistant Jurisprudence Exam (minimum score 75%). License fee: $95 (or $25 if obtained within 6 months of expiration). Biennial renewal by March 1 of odd-numbered years. 30 hours of continuing education required per renewal cycle. Licensed Dental Assistants can apply for expanded scope functions with additional education, including: dental impressions for fixed prosthodontics, dental impressions for removable prostheses, cementing prefabricated fixed prostheses on primary teeth, and nitrous oxide monitoring/administration. After 1,500 hours as an LDA, they can apply for Expanded Function Permits with additional training and clinical exam. Military training may be accepted toward credential requirements. Reciprocity is available per NRS 38-129.02.
